I have realized that in unwanted cameras, specialized sensors help to {focus|concentrate|maintain focus|target|a**** automatically. Those sensors associated with some video cameras change in contrast, while others start using a beam with infra-red (IR) light, specially in low lighting. Higher spec cameras often use a mixture of both models and will often have Face Priority AF where the digicam can 'See' some sort of face while focusing only in that.
